Our Story

Our Founder

FARMILIES CONNECT was founded in 2023 by Parkside Farm founder and local entrepreneur, Nicole Zaagman. Nicole grew up on a hobby farm in Clarksville, Michigan and participated in Kent County's 4-H program and youth fair for over a decade. After 12 years of no farm, in 2021 she restarted her pygmy goat herd and felt at peace getting back to her roots. After two years of hands-on farm work and developing programming for local families to experience her agribusiness, Nicole created FARMILIES CONNECT a membership platform connecting other Michigan farms and farmers markets with families to support the future of  agriculture by promoting farm education, products and services.

Mission Statement

FARMILIES CONNECT believes the future of Michigan agriculture will be dependent on

market innovation and agricultural education. Agritourism is the bridge for both and a catalyst of fun and learning for families to experience. The purpose of this platform is to bridge the gap between farming and future generations, making agriculture appealing and engaging for children and adults, alike. This initiative strives to connect farms and families in Michigan through growing its membership and fostering engagement between members.
